  • Upcycle Holiday Tree Contest 2024

    In 2019, the Flatbush Junction BID commissioned the Upcycle Junction market at Hillel Plaza. The market was Brooklyn’s first and only upcycle craft market for unique jewelry, paintings, sculpture and textile products made exclusively from reclaimed materials. The tree aims to encourage visitors to the area during the winter holiday period and highlight the BIDs support for sustainability and environmentally conscious public art.

  • City Artists Corp

    The New York City Artist Corps was created by Mayor de Blasio in spring 2021 as a way of providing relief to New York City’s hard-hit arts community while bringing a diverse range of free cultural programming to all New Yorkers. City Artist Corps members have fanned out across the five boroughs to present workshops, exhibitions, performances, installations, murals, and much more - free and open to all.

  • Open Streets 2022/2023

    NYC DOT operates roughly 200 Open Streets at locations throughout the city, including a record number at schools, to provide more public space for New Yorkers, promoting economic development, supporting education, facilitating pedestrian and bike mobility, and providing new ways for New Yorkers to enjoy cultural programming and build community. The Open Streets application is available online and easy to complete.
